The Pop NFTs collection is a first into combining physical and digital art in a Pop Art style. Like the silk screen techniques that Andy Warhol used, these pieces combine hand-painted and digital techniques that illustrate and illuminate common objects like tokens, cars and logos.
One important component of pop art is the subject matter. Selecting subjects that are familiar and even playful from a contemporary perspective makes the art approachable while challenging the notion that important art must have subjects that are classic, curated or groomed.
In this piece, a gaming token is portrayed in a manner that makes the subject recognizable yet is not physically possible. The digital representation makes this possible.
The addition of physical art components to the digital art helps contrast the digital creation with the original subject. Digital tools allow the artist to transform the original subject into recognizable but physically impossible representations. This stretches the imagination and transforms memories.
